I'll check eBay and see if I can either find the start up disk for the 7.5 or find and older version or the maps

Allow me to de-confuse some of the discussion taking place here. 03-05 G uses 6.x which does require a separate upgrade disk along with the maps disc. 2006 G brought about several improvements including the nav which no longer needed separate update discs. Take a look at the navteq shop if you'd like to see the version line for yourself. 2005 and below will show 6.x version. 2006 will show 7.x version.

I've upgraded my 06 numerous times as 7.x has progressed over the years. Never ran into anything like what you guys are experiencing and I don't have an answer for that issue. What I can tell you (dj712 specifically) is your issue has nothing to do with upgrade discs. In fact, I doubt it has anything to do with your disc, it sounds like a complete malfunction to me. But if you want to take the disc out of the equation, I'd suggest taking another NAVI G for a test drive back to a location where your G is waiting to test the disc from the test drive car. Or, you're in california so I would think there would be a G meet somewhere nearby. Whatever works to try swapping with an original disc. You can swap discs all you want on an '06 and the system won't care.

Dablakbradpitt - you need to read my post just a couple posts up. You 2 guys have completely different nav systems and are battling completely different issues. dj714 does not need to update his software on 06+ G's that use the 7.x code.

ouch, took me awhile to see that but that is definitely a nicely snipped wire. Almost looks like a ground wire? I assume we should be a seeing a module of some sort there.
