My jl sub keeps ripping..
The amp is a jl 500x1 and the sub is a 10w6v2..
For some people yes. Other's like me, enjoy more of the physical rumble that a sealed box and a Kicker L7 can provide =P
And I am not saying JL is a slouch. I just don't think they can be considered a "Rolls-Royce" of sub's when if anything JL and Kicker are on par throughout their product range.

JL is an SQ company first, SPL second.
Kicker is an SPL company. Stop comparing the 2.
Yeah it is, I did notice before when i had the volume up and had the trunk open the sub sounded distorted but was hitting hard but when the volume is down it doesn't sound distorted..
Sorta seems like the sub is running out of xmax
Is the sub in a ported box, OP? if so, what's it tuned to?
It's in a sealed box I had built for the sub similar to the 4080 driver side box..
