New stereo install - no sound

I was having the fairly common problem of no AC control/radio on my 04 g35 sedan w/ bose, so I finally got a new stereo. I've plugged it all in, and I've gotten the AC controls to work but no sound.

These are the parts I ordered:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-99-7604T.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...FH-X700BT.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...sche-NDAB.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...N03B-NN03.html

Just to be sure I didn't mess up the install:
I connected (soldered and taped) all the like color wires from the wire harnesses to the head unit harness.
Plugged the head unit harness into the stereo, and the wire harnesses into the plugs that fit it.
Plugged the climate control cable into the plug that fit it.

I tried playing sound through the radio and through a fat32 formatted usb drive and no sound at all, not even static.

Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting would be appreciated.

Did you have the factory bose system? If so, you're not using the right adapter (PAC ROEM-NIS2) where you currently have a standard harness, but you should be getting some sort of sound out of it. My guess would be that the amplifier ground wire from the vehicle side of the harness isn't grounded properly, or the amp/remote power signal wire is not connected right.

If you do not have the factory bose system, there's less complications in the way, make sure your mute wire isn't somehow grounded somewhere.

does the receiver have an amp on off function? maybe the internal amp is set to off.

Hey wrathernaut thanks for the reply.

I do have the factory Bose system, so I guess I will need to get the other adapter.
This one right?
Amazon Amazon

I probably don't have the amp ground wire grounded correctly. All I did was tape the exposed end. I guess I should tape it to a piece of exposed metal on the car?

u might want to use more than "tape" and screw it down to the frame (metal).

So I screwed the amp ground in and no change. The headunit still turns on, I can still switch through all of fm and am and my usb drive filled with music and get no sound at all. Wrathernaut says I should be getting some sound, so I'm hesitant to buy the recommended part if there is some other problem that needs to be fixed.

If you can post up pictures of how you have the wiring harnesses connected together it might help some.

As saywat? mentioned, the entire install is in question right now.

The wire wrapped with the blue tape on it here looks like the amp turn-on wire and doesn't look connected to anything.

It should be connected to the blue with white wire under you thumb here:

Awesome! It works now, thanks Wrathernaut.

I'm sure this is going to sound really stupid to you guys, but I thought that wire with the blue tape was an antenna for the remote since the tape said "system remote control".

Anyways, I have sound now, and it sounds fine. What difference will there be if I get the Bose specific wire harness?

Glad it worked out. I will note, however, that if you'd followed the wiring guide in the sticky - https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...urce-list.html - you'd have avoided the trouble completely. Judging from that and what isn't clear in the pictures, it looks like your antenna amplifier may not be connected as per the recommendation either, so your FM reception may be much poorer than you remember as well. Connect it to the main red power wire as per the chart to keep it working properly. The "power antenna" wire from your new stereo doesn't provide enough power to run the antenna amplifier properly.

As for the difference, you'll probably notice (or not... bose components are anything but consistent) a lot higher noise floor with that setup and muddier bass, especially under higher volumes with what you have versus the recommended PAC ROEM-NIS2 adapter. There's a "premium audio harness" that connects to the RCAs on the new headunit (PAC 70-7551 or equivalent) that, when used, results in extremely quiet audio, and is not recommended.
