Navigation System Question

Ok, this may have been asked before, but I will ask it again, and im sorry if its a repost.

The navigation will not work while your driving in regards to letting you input an address. It states that this function is not available while driving. I dont know about everyone else, but this is a pain in the butt. My BMW never did this, nor my acura. My question is, if this navi is anything like the aftermarket ones, all you need to do is find the brake sensor wire, and give it positive or negative continuos charge. Does anyone know if this is possible , or have done it before , and know what wires need to be changed.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: Navigation System Question

I believe it relates to some new regulations, and that all new nav systems may have such "features" builtin. Besides, it is rather distracting to have to input an address while driving.. you have to keep your attention on the screen and navigate with that little stick.

I don't think it's reliant on a signal from the brakes, I think it's either using the wheel speed sensor or GPS-calculated speed. Either way, clipping that one could cause the Nav system to function improperly, as it wouldn't be able to tell how fast you're coming up on that next turn.

Re: Navigation System Question

You can access the top 5 entries in the address book, but it won't let you scroll down while moving. If you do manage to scroll down while stopped, you'll be locked on whatever 5 items are showing when you start moving again. Not too hard to pick something out at a stop sign. But entering a new address from scratch requires you to stop.

There's also a quick stops type feature that lets you find nearby "things" from 5 categories... food, gas, hotel, etc. You can select a destination this way while moving.
