Screws for mounting MDF ring for front speakers

Hello,

I made some front speaker MDF rings rather than buying some pre-made ones. I have a question as to what size screws to use to mount these rings. The MDF is 1" thick and the original screws that were used to mount the original speakers are too short. Below is a pic of the ring.

What is the thread size of the stock screws? Can I buy longer screws from my local hardware store (Home Depot, Lowes, etc)? I would like to reuse the stock mount holes rather than redrill additional holes on the door. Thank you and let me know if there is a better alternative of mounting the MDF ring.

I've been reading and seems like people are using #14 tappered screws. Are these screws the same as the original ones that mounted the front speakers?

Align the holes and use small machine bolts with lock washers. That is what the zenclosure spacers use, and they've worked great for me.

I'd also say put a drop of threadlocker on them as well.
