single din flip out dvd player.

hi guys newbie here, ive done many many installs and upgrades to cars as i am a mechanic of many years. with that nonsense being said ive been reading all these threads for the last few days , and have come to the conclusion of this. That it seems to but in a 6.1 " or 7" touch screen unit i have to but a 200 - 320 dollar trim and a few other small odds and ends unlike most cars ive done. i think its because of the fitment and the navi system and dual climate control from the factory right?

well i was wondering, im just trying to play DVDs in the car and get some more punch out of the factory system while keeping the navi system the way it is and have it simple and cheap. can i run a flip out single din style unit to get around those above noted issues?

Thank you ahead of time and any suggestions would be very much appreciated thank you

Wes

The only difference between radios with CAT buttons and SAT buttons is the label on the plastic button.
The adapter will work fine.

Nah, just follow the radio removal video in the DDin install guide sticky'd at the top of the forum here, otherwise, it's fairly straightforward to install.

cool man thx alot for the fast response and help so far , another quick question for ya is i have a amp and small box and sob setup for the trunk i read the thread about using the factory amp to push my sub but i don't know if the factory will be enough honestly. do you happen to know the wattage of it by any chance? Or would it be better to just replace the factory amp with a better power wire and run my own amp in its place ? i just didn't know if the factory amp was help push the back desk speakers or not? thx again

The watts on the factory amp are estimated at somewhere around 20-30w RMS for the sub, and it decreases the power to the sub as the volume increases. It's terrible and I wouldn't use it to run a set of headphones.

Definitely replace it and run your own power wire.
