V35 Locking itself without touching it

Hey,

My partner has a 2003 V35 Coupe, its a 70th anniversary edition. Recently she noticed the red "security" light flashing inside the car, and was not sure if it was always flashing, but it definitely does now. Then tonight, after she locked the car with the remote key, the hazards started to flash again, and make a clicking noise, as if it is trying to lock itself again. When you unlock the car, it locks itself within a few seconds again. Its a little bit random, doing it at random intervals...

I have tried to use the spare key, to no avail. And I also tried to pull the negative battery terminal off and reset the car. It worked for about 5 minutes, then started to flash again.

Any ideas what it could be?

cheers

Well, it will re-lock after a minute or two after unlocking if you don't open a door, in case you accidentally unlock it while walking away. If it's really just a few seconds, it could be a failing lock actuator that's going back to lock since it's unable to completely unlock.

If one of the doors isn't actually unlocking after pushing the button, that's where I'd start checking for the stuck actuator.
Here's a video that might help with checking:

Thanks mate,

I will check tonight to see if both doors are locking. To me, seems like it should only do this if a door or boot is left open and you lock it? Ill check the door close switches too if both doors are locking okay.

Yeah it re locks very quickly sometimes... If you hit unlock, you dont always have enough time to grab the handle to open, and it will lock itself.
