I am thinking about getting it so I can play dvd's on my navi screen. The thing I want to know before I buy it is if the dvd copies I make on the media I use will work in the av electronics. As long as your dvd player will play them it will work. The unit just hacks into the Nav screen input to allow for other sources to be displayed.

 

That's right... The AV Electronic unit is a video switcher unit. The video source is up to you....

 

Whats the best DVD player out there? I probably want the TV tuner and S-video input. I know I am kinda limited. Any suggestions?

 

Okay, I don't know what dvd player to get. The reason I'm asking this is because sometimes dvd players have a problem reading dvd-r discs. Mine play in most home dvd players but I never tried it in a car. So nobody wants to test it out and get a free movie?

 

Check the spec sheet on the players you are interested in. It will state what they will play; DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, etc.
I have a cheap DVD player in my car. I can't remeber the name, but can check if it's important. Cost about $100. It plays DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs, VCDs, CDs. I would think most newer players out there will play things backed up onto recordable media.
The most important thing is to burn to quality media. I have a cheap DVD-R a friend gave me that does not play well in my car DVD player, nor does it play well in my home DVD players. But qualtity discs play well in all.
To repeat what others have said. The AV box only passes along a video signal to your NAV screen. It does not play anything (except TV signals) on its own.
