Unhappy Aftermarket Navigation Lags!

I have just got an aftermarket navigation from Pioneer and for looks its a plus and for being useful it is a HUGE negative . I had bought the NAVSYS620T Package which comes with a 6.5 Detachable Touch Panel and a AVIC88-DVD player. Everything works.. only problem is, whenever I try to reach a certain destination, the GPS lags insanely and I might as well not use it at all . I believe it has something to do with the antenna (which is located on top of my hood, through the passenger side window), and I was hoping maybe i can replace it with something better. Any ideas to remove this nasty lag?

hm i dont believe it is setup correctly..
theres this one part of the navigation where it should give me a reading of my speed, distance traveled, n all that good stuff.. but apparently the sensor does not work. I think ill take it back to the shop and have it checked out.
