amp wiring
amp wiring
hi guys. I need help wiring my 4 channel amp. Im keeping stock Bose HU and rear door speakers for "rear fill". so basically, new comps up front on channel 1/2 and an 8" sub in trunk on channels 3/4. question is: do I leave the rear left and right inputs from HU alone and splice the fronts only or splice everything going into Bose amp.? I've read all the threads already but I'm still a little confused. thnx in advance
Just having rear speakers doesn't make "rear fill" it makes poorer quality audio that's delayed from the good audio. Crap speakers alongside good speakers just makes the audio muddy. To actually use another set of speakers for rear fill, you need something that compensates for audio delay and can limit the frequencies being sent. Use the new front components and the sub and you'll have a better audio setup.
Also, if the amp you're using isn't built to accept differential-balanced signals, you're going to be disappointed in the audio quality.

thnx for reply. so i can just run fronts and sub and have it sound decent? i have a jl 300/4 and jbl ms62c comps and alpine type r8. so if i use the rear output channel for my sub does this mean i would have to fade to rear to get my sub to sound loouder?
the amp has a separate gain for the rear channels.. that controls the "volume" of the sub in your setup... id tune the front channel of the amp without the sub hooked up first... then find the max volume that it still sounds good at without distortion, then hook up the sub and tune that accordingly so it doesnt distort at the highest volume... unfortunately the 300/4 doesnt have a wired control **** since it doesnt have a sub channel.. those are nice cuz you can tune from the drivers seat depending on the music genre

thnx for the advice. my sub is 300 RMS but its only gonna see 150. if this doesn't suit my needs then I'll swap the 300/4 for a PPI 600.4. install is going down this weekend.
if you can give me any other pointers I will appreciate it. thnx again
