G35 Burning/Playing MP3 CD Fix
Shortly after I bought my 2006 G35 I noticed that it didnt play most MP3 CD's. I was rather frustrated because it says MP3 CD on the stock CD player... Even a Nissan and Infiniti tech said they don't play MP3 CD's aka Data CD's ... Well I have found a way that works 100%... The reason they don't play is because most burning software burns data CD's with the UDF format. This will most likely NOT play in 99% of G35 maybe even 350z? However, burned audio CD's play just fine... The reason is because Audio CD's are CDFS format, for the most part... In order to successfully burn 60+ tracks to a CD you must choose CDFS format before you burn this disk. Here are the instructions and free burning software.
First download and install CDBurnXp if you dont want to pay for Nero or Easy CD Creator...
http://cdburnerxp.se/downloadsetup.exe
Next open it and select "Data disc" then click ok.
Next drag and drop all your favorite songs at the bottom.
**Important**
Next select the "Disc" option at the top of the program and in the drop down select "Change file system".
Change the File system from "UDF" to "ISO 9660 / Joliet" then click ok.
Note: ISO9660 is a form of CDFS format
Now click Burn off the middle left of the program and enjoy MP3 CD's in you G!!!!!

Weird, I never had a problem playing MP3 CD's on my 05 or 06...I mean for real. It says MP3 on the unit. Then of course the unit died now no CD's play and it scratches the crap out them.
Im not sure, but I think playing MP3 CD's actually is bad for the players in these cars. I know the units are notoriously bad and die all the time, just a thought. My 06 has only had one MP3 disc in there for about a day. Every other disc has been a purchased disc and it works flawlessly. In my 05 I had 6 MP3 discs, it started out skipping songs on the disc. Then it would freak out on a song and skip to the next disc and play fine. Then one day it just stopped reading anything.

Just speculation, but it could be that overburning from the original 650mb CD data limit to the 700mb or so allowed by some programs may cause the read head to move further than it was designed to move, causing problems.
