Stereo plays but no sound?

Hey guys, so my stereo is on, I can see that the CD is playing and that the time is elapsing, but there is no sound? I change it to the radio still the same, then it will randomly start playing by itself every once in a while but then it stops and it keeps repeating.. I also use a cassette adapter to plug into my phone and play music, when there is no sound coming I click on tape and it gives me a tape err but when I can hear the music playing I'll click on tape and it'll play my music off my phone... any ideas

If it's the bose system, it's likely the bose amplifier, but these radios have a ridiculously high failure rate, so I'd take it as a good excuse to upgrade to aftermarket.

I have a feeling it's the audio finisher circuit board :/

The audio finisher board failing generally leads to no working radio display, no working radio controls on the dash and no working climate controls. The controls from the steering wheel and audio play work. Audio finisher failure can be caused by the actual board failing, or the ribbon cable failing.

Total lack of audio output from all sources with everything else fine, is usually the bose amplifier.
