Really hits hard is relative. Hard to know what your perception of really hits hard is.

W6 Is Not Worth The Money When You Could Pay 10% More For Something That Will Handle More Power Cleaner. My 2 Brand New Jl10w6's In A Ported Custom Box Dont Really Sound All That Great. I Have The Jl 1000/1 Amp Powering Them. Well, One Sub Is Now Blown--jl Sending Me A Brand New One. I Would Have Sprung For The W7 If I Knew The W6's Coulnt Handle That Power.the Jl Amps Actually Pump 33% More Juice Than They Advertise! My 1000/1 Amp Tested At 1447 Watts When I First Hooked Everything Up...impressive! But The Subs Leave Room For Improvement! W6's Are Made For Space Constraints----g35 Can Fit 13w7's If You Wanted That Really Deep Bass.

Ported enclosures will reduce a subwoofers power handling capabilities. I always wonder when a subwoofer fails if it truely is too much power from the amp or its actually user error. Especially when I see guys who test subwoofers in car audio magazines using big time crown amplifiers pushing up to 5000 watts. And these guys test cheap old $100 woofers using the same amplifier as they would for a 13W7 test. Personally I think majority of the time its user error, but thats just me. Also having been in the business, I always noticed the same people brought back subwoofers that were blown, even though some other guy bought the exact same setup.
