In a poor attempt to install a Grom Audio Android Harness into the back of my 2006 G35x's radio, I lost power to my radio and now have zero radio or climate control.

During the failed install, I cut the 12V constant wire by mistake so I ordered a Metra 71-7550 reverse wiring harness to work backwards and make the new connections.

Attached are the pictures of what I currently have...

Here's the new harness I ordered. It had more wires than were in my original harness, but it did fit in the port so I hope that's good.

I didn't see any bad fuses upon examination, so I'm really thinking I wired it incorrectly.

1. Will the wires from the Metra harness (containing various labels like left front +, left front -, ground, 12V constant, etc.) connect to the matching colors on the oem wires? I'm confused here because there was no ground coming out of the original radio harness, but in the Metra, there's a black ground. I ran some extra wire to a screw by the brake pedals to try to ground that.

2. Was I correct in matching the wires from the oem set to the same pins in the new wiring harness? I.e the wires are connected via butt connectors before entered the same pins used in the original plug.

3. Finally, I'll mention that the radio and climate control worked fine before I started the install.

I used these style connectors when I first installed my double din. I have a feeling the issue is in the red to red connection. Recrimp that and see if that helps. Wrathernaut will be on the way soon though with a more helpful guide. B

 

So the wires should go color to color, regardless of pin location and label?

It might not have been clear in the first post, but I didn't match the colors. Instead I matched the wires to their location on the original plug.

 

Stole this from another thread. If it says on your harness these things, they are right. This picture should make it even clearer.

Just read your post, don't want to be jumbling them around randomly.

Looking at this chart, I know that most of the wires are connected incorrectly; I was going by the pin locations because I thought that was the important thing.

 

I mean that would make sense. Know this is for a double din install. So it may not be right.

 

It was the fuse! It must have blown during my install....

All well.... The Nissan Infiniti USB Android iPod iPhone Bluetooth AUX car kit is absolutely awesome!

For one data point, the adapter appears to work with full functionality in a 2006 Non-Bose G35x Sedan without navigation or sateliite radio.

Yeah... so I didn't look at the fuses in the box by the battery until today, but when I pulled out the 15A mini fuse for the Radio, it was blown! I disconnected the negative terminal, double-checked my connections, installed the new fuse, and connected the negative terminal back. Sure enough, my radio was back working again!
