2003 g35 sedan own sub does not work
Ok so I probably should have tried some troubleshooting first but I went ahead a bought a used OEM sub and amp for my car thinking that one of them had to be the issue. But I am still unable to get any sound from the OEM sub.
I have replaced the oem radio with a newer pioneer unit. The sub didn't work before swapping this out either. What am I missing? I've checked the radio fuses under the hood and under the dash and still nothing. The everything still works even if I pull the radio fuse out under the dash. What exactly are the fuses for? Any pointers would be appreciated

Well after further inspection, I got ahead of myself and bought the wrong sub. I bought one for an 05-06 g35 sedan. This one only has 2 wires, mine has 5 wires. I'm assuming my oem is dvc and the 05-06 isnt.

No, nothing about DVC - The 2003 sub has its own amplifier as part of the sub, so your newer subwoofer won't work off the line input signal that's going to it. You'll have to get a small (about 25-50w) amplifier to use the 05 subwoofer, or, even better, get a real subwoofer, box and amp instead of trying to run the shallow not-quite-8-inch bose POS.

Hmmm i didn't know it had its own amP. Guess that explains the extra wires. I was under the impression that the amp under the back dash powered the sub.
One day I will put in an actual sub. I'd just like to get everything working on this car. It's got almost 300k miles and I'd still in really good condition.

Agreed. My car has very little rust. Just a few spots from rock chips on the hoof and such. had to put in a different engine due to failing head gaskets though. I'm just trying to keep everything working in the car.
