Speaker Upgrades for the G35 Coupe NON BOSE?

Before I get yelled at for not searching, I have been all morning. Every single thread I find on the topic talks about the bose system, but not the non-premium system. I have a 2005 g35 coupe with the non bose setup, with a DD conversion and a Boss head unit. I want to upgrade My speakers as they are blown and I did not like the stock ones. I need to know how many speakers and what sizes i need to buy, as well as reputable speaker companies. Please point me in the right direction.

I don't know the specifics but I know that crutchfield can help make things easier.

if you go to their website you can choose your car and factory radio options

6.5" speakers front and back. You'll want high sensitivity ones, Polk DB6501 are a good option. You'll need speaker spacers for the doors. zenclosures has good ones if you can't make them yourself.

Sorry for the thread jack . Wrather how do the DB651's stack up against the 6501's? I've been pondering replacing speakers in the GTO with some relatively inexpensive speakers and keep being drawn to the 651's because of the price and great reviews all over the web. So I guess my real question is are the 6501's twice as good as the 651's since they cost almost twice as much.

Stock amp, wiring and speakers with an Alpine CDE-W235BT H/U is the set-up the GTO had when I bought her.

6501's are components, with a crossover so you can put the tweeter in the right place, while the 651's are coaxial, with the tweeter stuck in the middle of the speaker and no crossover.

Duh lol.

Do you think they're worth twice the price when added to my current setup? I have no plans in the near future to add an amp, sub or anything else. Just planning to keep what I've got and upgrade speakers. Thanks as always for your insight Audio Obi-Wan...............

I don't remember exactly what your current setup is... my memory ain't what it used to be - but - I wouldn't use coaxial up front at all, and if you've already got good components up front, I'd stick with front soundstage and not put anything in the rear.

If you don't have good components up front yet, go with the 6501's if you're going for budget... otherwise, try and find some Image Dynamics CTX65cs's. They are still going strong in my wife's car... and I'd take them and the leftover cash over my Boston Acoustics Pro65se's.
