Yes, it's a little nagging not being fully lit. The LED is already filed down as much as possible. The main problem was that I wasn't planning to light it, so the button is lined up with the one below it, even though it's slightly further out. This slightly intrudes on the spot where the LED should be.

will it throw it off if you just wire a second led in parallel right next to it? im sure an extra led wont cause them to dim too much if any

No room in that space, and the metal retainer spring clip is right there, so I can't remove the plastic to let more of the light in.

To remedy it, I'd have to resolder quite a bit. I still might, depending on how much longer I have to work on it.

JMO though, I can't understand why someone would put all this work into a 10 year old plus G but if it's what the owner wants I certainly can't hate. The tinkerer type. I'm not really this way now but I used to be. Back when I was 21 and making real money for that age about 2002-2003 I was like this was a 2003 Mustang GT that I bought new. Kept the car 12-13 years and basically the only thing I left stock was the factory chassis, welded body components. Since I was modifying I wished I would have just chosen a 5-10 year old car rather than do that to a new car slowly over a period of 5 years. It was my hobby but looking back paying $480 a month wasn't worth it since I was modding and replacing everything any way. It's just a certain type of person I guess. What Wrathernaut and some other guys are capable of most other hobbyist aren't.

Nothing really special, just know enough about many subjects, and can combine what I know to do what I need.
