2003-2004 Bose Radio/CD Changer

Looking for a known good radio/changer. Not looking to spend a lot. Hoping someone has one sitting around and wants a few bucks. Message me on here with location and offer. Prefer local but will have it shipped as long as the unit is working.

If there's a non bose I'd like someone to check the back of it and see if it says who it's made by. The bose headunit says made by clarion. I'm sure the speakers are different even though the bose ones are cardboard

Thanks for the offer. Can somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 2005 a different style head unit that cannot be put in a 2003-2004?

Mine doesnt have a tape deck...just a 6 disc CD changer.

I believe the head unit itself is almost identical between 04 and 05. The faceplate is different but u should be able to swap em.

Looks like the only difference is an internal fan and a heatsink on the back of the non-bose. This is because it has to drive the speakers directly vs a bose head unit which only has to push the signal to the amp.

The only thing Im not sure of is if the bose head unit has extra wires for the rear deck speaker signals. I would guess no, and assume the amp just steals the same signal from the rear speaker wires and crosses it over to the rear deck.

I'm not 100% sure though. Wheres Wrathernaut?? He seems like the audio guru around here.

If you go to crutchfield or an audio site that narrows results you could see if the metra double din shows the same results for the years 03-07. That should tell you. I know the dash panels can be swapped with no problems

MOD EDIT: NO. THE DASH PANELS CANNOT BE SWAPPED FROM 03-07.

There's five headunit groups; using any within your group is fine.

1) Early '03s - I think they're actually leftover '02s. They're wired very differently and are the reason '03s are excluded from many compatibility lists for lots of products online.

2) 03-04 sedan and coupe Non-bose

3) 03-04 sedan and coupe Bose

4) 05-06 Sedan non-bose and 05-07 coupe non-bose

5) 05-06 Sedan bose and 05-07 coupe bose

The bose are labeled "Bose" on the face have no internal amplifier and send a differential-balanced signal that most aftermarket amplifiers can't use properly.

The non-bose have no "Bose" label on the face and have an internal amplifier, which sends a speaker-level signal directly to the speakers.

They all send only four signals (FR, FL, RR, RL), there's no specific woofer signal from the headunit.

The speakers are different between bose and non-bose, with the non-bose being superior in my opinion (comparison thread here: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...omparison.html). They use the exact same tweeters.

Hmm I don't think I'm wrong. Someone on hear just recently said they updated their 03-04 interior to the 05-07. Seems like the gauge cluster is the only thing that isn't a direct swap. Just have to keep the older gauges or rewire them for the newer ones

I think what Wrathernaut was actually talking about was the trim piece for the stereo. The 03/04 trim piece includes the AC vents on both sides whereas the 05 and up does not...they are separate.

Now if you were to swap out the entire top dashboard along with the trim piece...u would be fine.

Wrathernaut, feel free to delete or edit this post if Im wrong.

I could see how that was misinterpreted. I was talking about the instrument panel as a whole. I just hate the all capsFONT size that he used to try and correct me lol. But there is no doubt that he is the audio guru

Yeah, where the discussion was all about radio swap, which generally doesn't include a full dashboard replacement, I didn't want somebody going off that.
