I just have a quick question I know with the JL 10 w6v2 its recommended to have 500rms push the speaker, would it be ok if I was to power it with only 250rms reason why im asking is because I have a 10" w3v2 hooked up on a 4ch amp and its pushing out 250rms@4ohms bridged but to get any decent type of bass I have to have the gain up 2/3 and the bass boost up 3/4 and it looks like the speaker maybe working a little to hard to get the bass Im looking for and Im afraid its gonna blow eventually. So would I be under powering the JL w6v2 with 250rms? also Im using 4080 sub box

My Pair Of Jl10w6v2 's Blew With Just A Jl 1000/1. 250-400 Watts Each Should Be Good.

You will def. notice an improvment with 500+ watts. I would suggest it if you like the bass.

Move the 4-channel amp to your mids & highs and get a JL 500/1 for the 10W6. Remember the gain control is not a volume control, it is a level matching control. Also bass boost is only useful if your amplifier can produce the power necessary to satisfy the level of boost. A +3dB increase in bass at say 40hz is going to require that your amp be able to produce roughly twice the power at 40hz. If the amp can not, it is going to clip and then the real problems start. Opimax is right, more speakers have been lost due to a lack of power than too much. Take care.

Im pretty sure the sub is not getting underpowered cause Phoenix gold always rates there amps lower than what they put out, they rated this amp 250rms@4ohms bridge which I would guess it closer to 300 or a bit more. I really dont want to mix and match my amps I have 2 PG Ti series amps which I think are better quality then the JL amps. Well I'll see how this sub works out if it blows I'll go with something else

If you want more bass, heres how it works. You will need to either double the number of woofers or double the wattage. Going from a W3 to a W6 will not give you more bass. If anything I think the W6 has a lower efficeny rating which will give you less out put. So rule of thumb either double the number of subs or double the wattage. I would go the wattage route and get yourself a 500-600 watt amp.

I am running 1 10" jlw6 v2 with 1/2 of my PG Reactor amp (the zx500 side = ti600.2) with upgraded caps. The factory amp puts outs out 600 into 4 but is current limited but i would still bet 700 or more into the 2 ohms. I am using 4080's fine box and even a pg basscube to get all I can. Not enough!!
