Bone stock G35, got everything but sirius radio. :(
Satellite woe's

Well, This journey started on another thread where I was trying to get the satellite radio working on my 2005 G35.
With the great help of members I found the plug in the trunk behind the passenger rear seat......
I already have a Sirius account and was looking for a Sirius tuner to put in the trunk along with the antenna.....

All I could find on Ebay was a few XM tuners & antenna's.......... other than one Sirius tuner but zero Sirius antenna's
I called Sirius/XM to find out if a "XM antenna" would work with a Sirius tuner or if I HAD to have a Sirius antenna (I didn't know if there was a difference, but suspected not)

They said I would have to have a Sirius antenna and an XM one would NOT work..
They then said they had the proper tuner & antenna for a 2005 Infiniti G35 for $69.00........ sounded cheap so I said "Sure, send it to me.
Well, what I got was the SXV-300 which was NOT what I needed obviously. This is what I got...

So now this tuner is getting sent back to Sirius for a refund.

While I had the radio out of my car today the ribbon cable or whatever it is called between the head unit & the control face plate came 1/2 way out of the face plate and a little smoke came out of the CD player.

Now the CD player plays, the radio works but I have no display at all. I am assuming I fried the "....???....." something.

Any idea's on how to proceed or what to check would be appreciated. I am assuming the next step is buy a another radio? Or could this be a some what easy fix?

That cable does several things but it also supplies power to the control board. I'm surprised it only smoked the display. It could probably be fixed since it's fully functional except the display or you can replace the whole control panel. Have you thought about using a aftermarket player?

Always a good idea to disconnect power when doing electronic work

That's unfortunate but for the future anytime you do any work on an electrical system you NEED to disconnect the battery. You should be able to source a used "display and A/C auto amp" for a reasonable price on eBay.
