I bought an OEM Sirius tuner for my G35 Sedan but was unable as of yet to find the antenna that goes with it.
It has the green & curry (brownish) plugs on the tuner, the antenna thing I see on some pictures has the 2 plugs.... then goes into a small box and one wire & plug exit the box to the antenna.




I plugged a regular Sirius car antenna into the Curry plug and got nothing but "acquiring" on the radio........
When I plug the antenna into the green plug on the tuner I get all the channels from Sirius and can listen to all the music ok and when scrolling through the stations it displays the channel I am going through.
Once you pick a channel and the music starts playing the radio just shows "antenna" on the display when I think it should display the song title and band name.

Do I need BOTH green & curry plugs on the tuner plugged into an antenna?
Does anyone know what the 2 plugs are for? One is obviously for the satellite antenna but why the second plug? I saw a pic of a Pioneer tuner that says the curry plug is for GPS? Is that if you have navigation maybe?

If anyone knows what I need to do to fix this issue I could use the help or advice. I have scoured this forum and the Sirius / XM forum with no luck.

If someone had the OEM antenna wiring / adapter I would be VERY interested in buying it!!!!!

 

I don't believe the OEM antenna kits came with that Y-adapter. You can find new ones on eBay pretty cheap. I really can't help other than that, but I've been looking to add a Sirius or XM tuner to my coupe as well so I'm interested to see how this works out for you. I don't drive the car enough to warrant a full double-din conversion.

 

If ANYONE has an OEM tuner in the trunk with the PROPER antenna set up I would appreciate knowing how their's is set up.
I can't seem to find a picture at all of what came in the car originally or what type of antenna to use.....

My car has the satellite roof antenna. Never looked for the satellite tuner. Where is it located on the sedan? I put a full din android unit in so I'll probably pull the sat crap.

 

It's on the underside of the trunk parcel shelf passenger side (or on the back of the seat frame if dealer installed).

 

Here is a pic from my 2005 sedan G35X. I would guess that it is stock.

 

The factory install on the 2006 is on the underside of the parcel shelf in a bracket with the Bluetooth unit. What you show is the stock dealer install location on the back of the seat frame (at least according to the 2006 TSB I downloaded). I wonder if the parcel shelf location was a subtle difference between 2005 and 2006....

 

Were you looking at coupe or sedan TSB?

It's for sedan. I checked Infinitihelp.com. It's not a TSB, it's an "Accessory Installation Guide." Sorry about that. There's one for 2006 (what I had), but also one for 2003-2005. They look pretty similar at a quick glance, but perhaps some subtle differences.

Referencing OP's initial question, the "curry" plug is for the urban radio signal system. When you are in the city, buildings block the signal. So the satellite vendors in major urban areas set up a system of local antennas that broadcast the signal.

Don't get an OEM antenna. Use the FAKRA adapter you can get on Amazon and plug in a modern mini-antenna. It will utilize both types of signals.

My weird issue is that I get all the channels and everything works fine EXCEPT the radio always displays "antenna".

Was wondering if people with OEM Sirius radios could verify if the radio displays song title / band on the display while music is playing or not?

I was assuming it would but am confused why mine doesn't BUT does pick up the signal 100% and plays the music

 

When I had my 06 G35 with the Sirius Radio it displayed the song title and artist
It also displayed stock quotes when tuned to CNBC which XM radios do not.
