G35 Sedan with Bose
Volume and Antenna for Sony XAV AX5000 in 2004 G35 Sedan with Bose Premium Audio

Hi! Just got this installed after grousing about the fact that the only thing I don't like about my G35 was not being able to use my iPhone for navigation and music without it getting fumbly and wires everywhere. Setup is very nice though they had to put a spacer under the unit because of a gap in the JDM double-DIN unit, surprising since I thought this would have been entirely standard.

Two questions:
  • I only seem to be able to use the first few units of volume, like up to 5/30(?) or so before it gets Too Loud. Not the sort of person who is blasting my tunez out the car so everyone in the neighborhood knows what I'm listening to, I guess Tried turning down the equalizer levels but that only helped so much. Is there a separate gain control on the Bose amplifier (I had the premium system) that came with the car?
  • I notice I'm getting interference on FM radio on stations I didn't have much problems with using the original head unit, is it possible the antenna wasn't wired in properly? Is there any way I could tell? Or is FM an afterthought nowadays.
Thanks for any insight you can give.

There is no separate gain on the Bose amplifier. U can make one by adding an in-line volume control **** to the amp input wires. Might have to remove your head unit again to access the wires though.

For the FM antenna, they would have needed to use an adapter to hook it up to your new head unit. I am assuming they did since youre able to pick up stations. The original antenna has a signal amplifier hooked up to it which needs to be hooked up to a power wire. I am guessing they didnt do that. That would be the first thing I would check.

On the volume, and correct me if I am wrong as I am just getting ready to drop a double din in myself, but I think this **might** solve your problem, putting in a PAC ROEM-NIS2
