thanks guys PM and emails replied.
ill just discribe what i intend to do here on the forum instead.
Option One:
Ipod in the nav pocket with iCruze. I will fabricate a housing in the pocket to slide the ipod into like a cartridge with the iCruze controll panel molded to the top of the pocket's lid like the one on this thread.
Option Two:
Molded ipod slot in the center arm rest console. Push on the ipod and it pops up on a bracket that allows you to slide the unit out and take it with you. The ipod will rest in an impression thats molded to the shape of the ipod. You will need an AAI-NIS aux-in interface to get audio to the deck. non-SAT head units without SAT only.
Option Three:
Headup display (still need to work out the details..
Hopefully ill have a better idea when i get a chance to take a look at another G's interior.)

Ill see you tomorrow.
what did you have in mind in terms of aftermarket nav? were you interested in putting a screen in the pocket or something of that nature? I can pretty much fabricate almost anything so the possibility is pretty good that we can come up with something for you.

s2l - now you're talking! I'd LOVE to have ipod mounting options that work well and make the displays visable (even if I have to pay the rip off price for the iCruise)...
Are your ideas compatible with the 05 interior? The HUD idea is also brilliant...
PLEASE keep us posted on your projects!

richard, i replied to your PM.
For everyone else, what i proposed to richard is taking the existing desktop cradle that comes with the ipod and integrating that into the lid area. Essentially you will have a slit in the lid that will allow you to slide the ipod into it like a cartridge while still leaving enough of the ipod exposed to access the click wheel and controls. Another option would be to purchase the Monster Cable ipod car charger with the built in Aux-Out port. Use this in conjunction with the AAI-NIS to get audio to the HU while keeping the ipod charged. This would be the better way to go in my opinion.
PS: The iCruze method is the best way to go about it. Everything can be installed much cleaner and it looks way better.

DEVIL, you're in Missouri, are you going to come to San Francisco for the install?

So, about a week ago, I drove down to Motor Music and talked to Ken (S2L) and CJ (installer?). The guys are NUTS, complete gearheads. It was indeed a great pleasure. They definitely know their stuff. This is the guys who drive crappy cars (no offence, guys!) with top-of-the-line audio equipment in them. We're talking Alpine F1.
I got a quote for a pretty nice audio upgrade for my G - about $5000 - a little higher than I expected to spend, but still doable. No, the install fee is very reasonable, actually less than I expected. It's the Alpine hardware that's $$$ - $3000+ for navigation and 6.5" LCD alone. Add to that Alpine Type R speakers, a digital amp, and install. Now I have to get a double-din...
Anyways, enough of me ranting on. I think Motor Music guys definitely know what they are doing, and, having talked to them, I would not hesitate to take my car to them. Just a vote of confidence, nothing more, nothing less.

Absolutely gorgeous! It matches so nicely with the lines of the interior, Very inpressive. Nice to know you guys are in the Bay Area, if and when it's time to upgrade my sound system.
