AC Compressor electrical issue
AC Compressor electrical issue
Alright, so my 03 coupe had an insane parasitic battery drain that was being caused by the AC compressor clutch (?) staying constantly engaged. I could hear it clicking open any time the battery got power so I unplugged it and the battery drain went away.
This car was purchased with a blown motor for a very low price and recently got a low mile used engine swapped into it, which came with a different AC compressor than the one that was already on the car before the motor swap. While in the process of trying to locate the issue I asked the previous owner and he said that issue was also present when he had it and a shop told him to replace the compressor.
Now obviously it's unlikely replacing the compressor would solve my issue given it has technically been replaced but with that said, where do I even begin with trying to track the source of the issue so I can have AC without having to unplug the compressor every time I get out of the car?
