NavBox Installation Help
When installing the navbox to my navigation do I need to splice into the harness behind the navigation screen, by the navi control unit, or both spots? I have it spliced in both spots. Now when i go to switch between navigation and xbox i see scrolling horizontal lines of the navigation map in the foreground. Much help appreciated. Thanks.
ok i removed the splice behind the screen and i'm still getting the scrolling map in the foreground of the xbox screen.
i have tried hard wiring the inverter to the power wires of the cigarette lighter
and plugging the inverter into the cigarette lighter with an adapter and it looks exactly the same.
any other ideas?

Is this a 2005 G35? What are you using for sound output?
ok so to t/s the current problem, i have my xbox being powered up from an extension cable going into the house. so i think this rules out a possible problem with the inverter causing the problem. i'm stilling getting those scrolling lines, so i'm going to redo the taps that i have into the harness behind the navi control unit. i've gotten a couple of pm's of people trying to help me out and i mus say that I appreciate it greatly.

I think you just spliced wrong. There are only 4 signal wires you need to cut. I guess it's not really a true "splice" since you actually cut wires from the harness. From looking at the diagram, your 4 sets of wires (wire XX, wire XX w/ stripe) coming out of NavBox would be connected accordingling to the 4 signal wires you cut from the harness.
I don't have the diagram in front of me but here's an example...
Say you cut red wire from harness. Your nav box has a blue wire and blue wire with stripe. Solid blue wire would go to the side of the red wire that goes into the harness. Blue wire with stripe will go into the other side of the red wire that's cut/separated. Then you have power, ground and switch coming out of the NavBox. Power: just tap into any remote power. I tapped into the big red power wire coming out of my PAC. Ground goes to chassis somewhere. Switch went to one of my switching wires on the PAC.

ok i think i understand what your saying. basically the two sets of 4 wires would make a loop going through the navbox. i was under the impression that all i have to do was tap one set of wires into the existing harness and that would be it. i didnt understand that i would have to cut it and attach one wire from one set into one side of the cut, then the other wire to the other side of the cut.
so then the wire would look like this right?
-----|<(striped wire) (solid wire)>|-------[harness]--[nav unit]
my next dilema would be that all the wires look the same coming out of the navbox. i was confused with that as well. i dont have 1 red wire and 1 red/blx wire. they are both just solid red coming from both sets of the navbox. and thats how it looks with all of them. i just its just trial and error now.

No prob, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier but you figured it out! I was out changing to Hawk HPS brake pads today. Brakes were starting to squeak and get mushy. How are you doing your switching? Did you connect it to the PAC negative outputs?
