I'm considering putting a JL 8w7 sub where the factory one is (on the sedan), do you guys know any good enclosures that would fit here? is this doable, or do you need free-air sub? i really want to conserve trunk space...

8W7 will be too heavy for rear deck. You could do some major reinforcing of the rear deck, but I would look for an alternate enclosure sight. Good luck

I don't want huge bass just enough to keep up with some decent components I will be putting in

 

consider the 4080 enclosure.

 

anything that's not in the trunk? i'd be willing to get something worse then 8w7 like a 8wo or 8w3v2-how much better would they be then the factory sub?

I was going to make a box for the rear deck, but with the sub in place in the current hole there is no room on the front side of the speaker. I ended up scrapping that idea and making a box for the rear passenger corner:

I will soon be replacing that sub with a Elemental Designs 11kv.2
