Can I add a sub to my oem (non bose) stereo? Is it pre-wired for it?

 

You can add a sub to any system. All you would need to do is run some line level converters off the rear speaker lines. Those then give you the ability to run RCA from them to your amp. Your amp should have a built in crossover to get rid of the higher frequencies.

 

But can I add something like the bose sub just as a plug and play? I just thought that maybe all cars where wired for the bose subs.

 

anyone, I just want something that I dont need to wire anything from the HU, can I just splice power and signal from anywhere in the trunk? I was thinking of the baselink for the trunk or the Clarion SRV303 for the inside cabin...anyone have exp. with these?

 

i am not sure about that. but i am in the middle of installing 2 10" Kicker CVR in a custom box. however i have the bose stereo so i am not sure of the next step. if you are interested in a Basslink i have on sitting in my garage that i took out of my previous car.

If you are just adding subs and amp to push them, you can just hookup a HI-LO impedance convertor. I have a stock bose sub in my rear dash. I disconnected it and connected to HI-LO to the speaker wires from the stock amp. The HI-LO converts the wires to RCA so you can hook up an amp.

Although I can't say much about the Clarion unit, I had a Basslink in my G for almost two years and loved it! It's super small, weighs next to nothing, and provides ample bass for your anyone looking for a little more thump out of the stock system. For me it was more than enough till I won a dual 10" sub setup, and that just left me wanting more (in the process of installing a custom system... will have pics and info up soon)...

But back to the Basslink... Being a powered sub, its an all in one unit, which makes it perfect for anyone looking for something they can take in and out (granted you integrate a plug and play harness to it) of their trunk fast and easy. Even without a harness, you can have it in or out in under 2min!

What makes the Basslink produce so much bass out of a small enclosure with only 200watts of power is that it uses one 10" sub as a driver and another 10" passive sub (underneath it), which helps increase (in many cases doubles) sound / bass levels.

The Basslink also comes with a wired remote gain control, which will allow you to turn the bass up or down as you need it from the drivers seat. All in all the Basslink is without a doubt the BEST bang for your buck! It retails for roughly $300, but if you shop around I've seen it selling for within the low to mid 200's shipped.

If you would like to save a little more, I'm selling mine for $150 + $15 shipping to anywhere in the cont/usa. It's in excellent condition, and I will even include easy to follow wiring instructions for anyone who doesnt have a PAC unit and wants to tap it into their factory system the "poor mans ways"...

Granted you have an amp wirring kit, you can have the Basslink in your car and thumping away in about an hour.
