Has anyone installed an in-dash TV/DVD unit without the use of the double-din modification?
I want to install it where the navigation is on nav-equipped models, but since I don't have nav there's just a pocket there with a flip cover. Has anyone else done this, and if so, got any pics?

Looks like one of the Alpine TME monitors. It may be motorized, but it's not an in-dash DVD unit. Nice job though, keeping the flip top in tact.
But I'm looking for an in-dash setup. The in-dash will be installed horizontally whereas that monitor was probably installed vertically, which is how the pocket is designed. The in-dash will require a little modification.

for the money youll spend on that you might as well just get the DD .... and if your intention is to be original(like be the only one w/ it).... there are a couple people that have flip outs in the little cubby ...Originally Posted by ChosenWon

Not trying to be original. I just prefer the in-dash unit better. And I'd rather have the monitor higher than where the DD places it. I just want to see others that have done it so I can see the end result and if it was hard to do. As for the money, are you talking about the cost of the unit or the cost of modification/install? Thanks for the replies and how much did your setup cost including install? I'm assuming your monitor is motorized, correct?

My install will be free because my friend is a professional installer. The only thing I'm worried about is how hard it's going to be because I don't wanna mangle the cubby up for it to work.Originally Posted by cKy2k

I see, that is a beautiful looking setup. But again, at this time I'm looking into those who have installed an in-dash unit into the cubby. I still prefer the in-dash unit over other technologies and that's why I want it. I'm sure if it doesn't work out, I will opt for the DW setup or something similar. I have an 05 so that gives me time to figure out if the way I want it will work before the DW setup is completed anyway. But thanks for giving me other options.Originally Posted by god_of_cpu

In any case you only have about 5 inches of depth to work with and a head unit isn't gonna fit and allow the cover to close unless you forcefully make room. I.e. cut out either the duct work or part of the stock head unit.
