I think it's through the month of April.

Thanks, I just bit the bullet placed my order!

For anyone looking for the navi DVD, there are 2-3 original ver 6.3 disks on ebay for like $45. But be aware they don't have the flirmware disk, so you'd probably have to dig one up from someone for it to work.

I got the newer NAV map disk, but not the firmware CD. Anyone can provide an iso image? I can provide ftp for uploading. Thanks!

My co-workers 6.3 map disc works fine in my 6.2 system w/o applying the flash.
The look & feel is a little different, however.

I don't believe the 6.3 version required a firmware update. But v6.4 (the most current one) does.

BTW, Zenrin has v6.4 on "sale" now for $149.

You guys may already know this, but the sale has been extended through the end of May.

A note on the previous discussion: Even if you buy the update CD on the day it comes out, it is already out of date. I think the morale here is don't become obsessed with always having the very latest maps. Most of the time there are not major changes from year to year, and if you do need to go to a new restaurant for the first time, just MapQuest it and then save it in your address book using the "Map" location feature.

My plan is to buy the update every couple of years or after major road construction in my area is completed. That way you spread the cost over a much longer period.

I just upgraded to 6.4. there are some road updates and boston (where I live) is fixed.

But other than that i wouldn't say it's worth it.

Since I've never upgraded yet since I purchased my 2004, I feel it is getting to be time to upgrade. Apparently my area has been upgraded since I bought the car.

I'll probably wait till this fall. At long as they continue to upgrade for the previous generation hardware, I guess I can upgrade every 3 years.

Just tried this on my 6.4 and works great. Let me know if you have questions on how to do it.

The newest firmware only comes with V6.4 of the software. The V6.4 software upgrade includes the Program CD to upgrade the firmware and the newest map DVD. Your firmware is one behind.
