Hello D87,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Bose Automotive Music System in your 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe. I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the Bose System in your vehicle. I forward the forums you reference on to our Marketing and Engineering Division for review.
I would like to ask you a few questions to clarify your Bose System is
performing to specification.
Are you the original owner of the vehicle? Has your Bose System degraded over the last two years to where you think a component needs to be serviced?
What mode of play are you referring to radio or cd? and what type of music
selections are you listening to? Thank you for contacting Bose Corporation.

Hello, I own a 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe with the optional Bose Sound System and frankly, I must say it was a poor investment. Let me say, also, that I've been a Bose fan for many years, and I do believe that your company makes incredible products that deliver exceptional sound. That is why I feel the necessity to write this email. The Bose audio package has very little treble, and when the volume is increased the bass muddles the treble and with increasing volume distortion can be heard - I've never experienced this type of performance in a Bose product before! At first I thought I had received bad components, but checking on forums such as www.g35driver.com, it appears the Bose system is notorious for these issues, so it appears that I am not the only dissatisfied customer out there.
I'm not sure exactly what can be done to alleviate this issue. To upgrade the components (speakers, amps) at the customer's expense seem a mediocre resolution as the Bose system is an upgrade option. I, as well as other G35 owners, would really appreciate an answer and feedback from you. Thank you.
PS. Yes, I will be posting this email on the forums and if need be, I can have a list of signatures to attest to this issue

those seem to be valid questions. i can't assume you don't listen to cd's that are analog copies of vinyl records. i also don't want to assume that the antenna works flawlessly either (hence the radio question).
i think that a simple response would be helpful to all of us:
yes, i am the original owner.
no, it has not degraded, it has been sh**ty since the day i bought it.
it occurs during all types of play,
and all types of music ranging from benny goodman, to slipknot, to 50 cent.

Quite frankly, most audiophiles consider Bose to be a poor "investment" for good sound. They don't generally sound horrible, but you can get something that sounds better for half the price. They are overpriced and marketed as high end audio. This is simply not the case and was dissapointed that Infiniti chose the system. It actually cheapens the car imo.
Check any home theater site and you will find a lot of people that find Bose horribly overpriced for what it is. I am actually being kind here.

Low cost parts, average quality sound (admittedly below average for G35) and superior marketing = the Bose formula for success.
It's no secret, but it works - despite the "information age" we live in.
Fact is that Bose has marketed innovations (such as the wave radio and noise cancelling headphones on airplanes) that garner praise from the press. This permits them to sell other crap for more $$$. Just the way the world works...

bose is good at one thing... making a bad speaker sound good. their engineering and box design for optimization of frequencies is beyond amazing. making a 4-6" speaker put out lower freq bass in a well engineered box... that's great. but beyond that their sound quality isn't that great. they've got cheap speakers that they make sound incredible for what they are. i'll give them that. i've upgraded mine to Boston Acoustics and added a subwoofer and I've done this to all the cars I've owned....
I'll be waiting for a response to you email... this will be interesting I hope.

As I was writing the letter and mentioning this forum, I thought it would be funny that there was a Bose employee who owns a G35 with the option... I wonder if there are any on here.
Good start to a deadend......lol
You think Patty Bolack has any say in corporate agreements between a major car manufacturer and Bose.....lol. Patty is probably an underappreciated hardworking individual putting herself through college by sitting in a tiny cubicle (like those stupid Capital One commercials) or at home filtering, responding and "referring" thousands of these type of customer email complaints. Patty, we seriously thank your for your dedication and here is your bonus $0.50 more an hour for responding to your quota 100 emails per hour. (I used to work in a similar cubicle doing the same thing Patty is doing while going to undergrad too...lol)

I must concur, the Bose system was a bad investment. I have a cheap system in my Company Exploder that consists of a Sony A$$plode CD receiver, NO AMP, and Pioneer 5 by 7 three ways in the front doors (factory speakers in the back doors), a A$$plode 10" sub in a small box with a 50 watt amp. This thing blows the doors off the Bose in my G.
It's funny, the Bose sounds suppressed and dull until I turn the V's up to about 17 or 18, then you can hear some highs start to kick in. Once you get past about 23, the highs and mids muddy out because of the bass in not being suppressed in them. It's not my burnt out ears, others hear the same thing. I wish I had saved the money and spent it on the Navi instead.

But....I digress...
We have to remember, though, that the amp and the rear 6x9's are the ONLY Bose stuff in the "Premium" sound package. The stock HU (which have sort of agreed upon is decent) is made by Clarion. The stock door speakers for the front doors and backseats side panels (or back door speakers for the sedan people) is made by Nissan, NOT by Bose. These stock door speakers are the mjor culprits in the crappy sound quality, Bose just gets more of a bad rap because they have added their brand name to the stock system by adding their rear shelf 6x9's and amp.
These stock Nissan speakers in our G35 doors are the same ones they use in the Sentra's, Quest mini-van, maximas, altimas, FX's and muranos...that tells you alot about nissan/infiniti's R&D team....lol
