AVIC-N2 Photos
Hello there,
I have read multiple threads about different after market navigation systems here. One which stands out the most is the AVIC-D1 installation. But I am looking at AVIC-N2 instead. I couldn't find pictures of anyone with that system. Has anyone installed AVIC-N2 in their G35? If yes, can you please post the photos. I have a 2005 G35 Sedan base model.
Thanks

Most people here will agree that the D1 is a cleaner install and has it's advantages over the D2. However the D2 also has some advantages.
Some things to look at are:
D1:
Clean OEM looking Install
Dual CD slots
No hideaway brain unit
Looks more durable than the motorized single din (IMO)
D2:
Smaller in the center console, makes space for a cubby holder or EQ maybe
you can put the brain in the trunk and thus run shorter wires if you decide to hook it up to an amp
thats all I could come up with for now...

Thanks shipsaeki for your thoughts. When I look at the photos of D1 installed with DD kits, I think the screen appears a bit too low. Ideally the Nav screen should be placed higher so that you don’t have look down to see maps while driving. That is why a screen in the cubby is better placed in my opinion. Do you have any comments on that?
Secondly, I would really like to keep the stock 6 CD changer. I am under the impression that with N2 in the cubby, I could keep the 6 CD changer in tact. Also I would like to minimize modifying the stock dash so that if I sell the car, I could bring it back to original form easily. And I just have a feeling that N2 in cubby will allow me to do that. Can you please comment on these thoughts?
Also, I am not too keen about having the DVD playing capacity really. My main objective is to have a good navigation system and rear view camera. In fact I am fine with the stock audio also. (Now I know I am a music moron
