Some features that 5495 has over the 5435:
1. Hard disk based navigation (supposed to be faster than DVD-based)
2. 3000 song storage
3. Surround sound processing (Circle Surround II)
4. Telephone number search
5. Memory Stick slot

Those are the differences as far as I can tell. I believe that 5435/5495 has replaced the 2454 line but you can still find 2454 at stores. I know the shop where I got my 5435 still had a few 2454 left in stock.

I ordered the 5495, never came in. I was supposed to have it installed two weeks ago. Then my dealer told me that it would be two more weeks for it to ship-not enough units were being produced.. apperently they also had a recall in june for a software update. I said screw it, I went with the 5435. Glad i did. I get sirius now and love it. I hope Eclipse adds Sirius to the 5495 in the future when I get my G or Z.

 

Also an advantage to is you can play DVDs and Nav. I have to switch out the Discs to do either. Remeber also, you will have to ground the purple wire to watch or program your nav when the car is in drive.

 

i think the wire is pink...

purple = speed sensor
green = reverse
pink = brake wire

 

hmmm... i thought it was red .....im probably wrong...the pink was the xtra wire in da harness...i thot...wish i never started this project....way too much time and money....



Oh yeah... i heard that there are software issues already with the 5495 from one of my buddies at my stereo place. The 5435 should b kewl....we'll c... i just bought one.
