2005 G35C 6mt nav/stereo upgrade and visit to Sound Advice
I (dragged my gf down with me too... heh) went down to Mission Viejo last saturday (60+ miles from WLA) to visit Rudy and the gang down at Sound Advice... they were very helpful in picking out my parts for my car...
heres whats gonna go in my car:
HU: AVIC-D1
XM: GEX-P10XMT
Front: eDi-6500s
Amp: NINe.2X @ 200RMSx2 (4ohms) front channel
Sub: 11Ov.2 (2OHM DVC running at 4ohms)
AMP: NINe.2X @ 600RMSx1 (4ohms) Sub
box : 4080 box
DVD Player : slim ps2 or maybe Pyle PLDVDMP4 mounted in digitalwheelz.com din converter for upper glove box.
Yellow top + 1F cap
Cliffor RSX 3.5 w/ remote start
I was thinking about adding a processor to the mix... like an Eclipse EQ2102 or something like that... any suggestions?
I'm just waiting for my DD kit to get to sched the install.... Can't wait!
Anyways, my experience with Rudy and Sound Advice has been great so far and I'm sure it won't change once i get my install done...

I hate processors. But since you have a 1.5V HU, I'd consider something with a line driver in it.

I have the AVIC-D1 & added a line driver.
HUGE improvement!!!
maybe i should clarify... i went down to sound advice to plan the system. the eD stuff I'm ordering myself, but all the other stuff i'm getting from them... the most important part, the install, is gonna be done by them...
el_dude - Thanks for the suggestion... what model of line driver do you have? it basically ups the 2V pre-outs to 4-5V right? why do you hate processors?
achen - you ordred it a month ago and still no sub? hmm... maybe i should just get that JL W6V2 instead...
Thanks!

Processors are either used for special effects, or to force speakers to play notes they don't want to play.
I hate special effects.
And you shouldn't EQ your speakers until you KNOW they sound they way you want them to sound. Might just need different speakers. Can't tell you how many people I know who bought MB Quarts and then got an EQ to try to tame that titanium tweeter.
The cleanest, purest signal path is the best.
As far as line drivers go, the Phoenix Gold SLD44 is a 4-channel version that works pretty well. The Zapco SP-7 is a very clean preamp/line driver with a graphic EQ that has studio-grade pots in it but is only 2-channel.

I only plan on running 2 channels (front only) with no rear fill. Do I need a line driver for the sub channel? if not then i can probably get away with the zapco sp-7 (since i can use the EQ on it too)
