Double DIN 2005 Coupe w/Pics
Well I finally took the first step toward getting a great system. I want to recognize Josh and the team at JML Audio (www.jmlaudio.com) in St. Louis, MO for a truly professional installation. Josh consistently put forth extra effort and over delivered. Thanks Josh! See you soon for phase 2…
I wasn't happy with the Bose system and wanted true iPod integration, so I went with the Double DIN conversion and chose the Clarion DXZ855MP HU with iPod controller. It is currently hooked up to the Bose amp and stock speakers through an interface. This is the first step toward a better sounding system with the features I require.
I ordered the DD parts from J’s garage and working with them was great. The only problem was that I ordered the wrong Aluminum face. I ordered:
68260-7W000 (Double Dash Aluminum) :59.39USD
27500-AC500 (AC Controller) : 286.00USD
The problem is that I have the OEM Nav and this face plate is too tall. Josh had to trim about a 0.25 inches off the top with a laminate trimmer. Nice work again.
A personal decision I made was to do away with the Dual button on the AC controller. The reasoning is that it looked like a hassle and I don’t like the dual feature. Additionally, I plan on putting the factory HU back in the car whenever I sell it and now that will be easier.
My car had Sirius. To keep this functionality I had to change out the factory Sirius receiver with a new Clarion CeNET capable model. This receiver works with the stock sat antenna.
We kept steering wheel controls with one of the IR interfaces (you can see the transmitter on the center of the aluminum panel below the HU).
I did lose the Nav audio. I wasn’t able to find enough concrete details before the install. Anyone have the wiring diagram for a 2005 coupe?
Josh did a great job matching the interior trim with the custom fabricated brushed aluminum plate below the HU. To the left of the IR transmitter I plan to add a sub volume control ****. For a balanced look, I like Josh’s suggestion to add a dummy **** to the right (unless we need to put something else in that space).

There's another part. I ran into the same problem with my install last week. Yoshi emailed me this morning with pics of the correct unit. Don't have a part # on it yet, but hopefully will by day's end.
I lost the audio too on the stock Navi. I have the wiring diagrams. Email me and I can hook you up. All I ask is if your installer finds a work around to reacquire the voice guidance from the stock Navi, you let me know how to do it as my installer is trying to figure it out as this gets posted.
Thanks,
Eric
