Cracked the Pioneer N2
I didn't see this posted yet and couldn't find anything on a search so i'll post it. I just finished performing brain surgery on my fathers N2 and have defeated the safety lockout. On the bottom of the unit, behind a small silver sticker, there are two small solder pads and the numbers 197.
Supposedly these are jumpered together on the european version that does't have the safety lockout feature. I ran a solder bead accross them to jumper the two pads, and presto, no lockout.
You can watch DVDs while driving (not recommeded), but most importantly, you can use all the Nav functions while driving. I didn't take any pictures because I didn't think it would actually work. A friend of mine that works at a Pioneer repair facility told me about it. I guess I can take a video of watching a DVD or using the NAV features while drivin or something if anyone wants proof before they perform surgery.
Just keep in mind the pads are very small and can be damaged if you don't know what your doing. It takes a very small iron and low heat. Just enought heat and time to melt the solder to the pads. Their close together so it's easy to connect them with one drop. Let me know if you have any questions.
Oh you still need the parking break fakeout switch though.
