DLS Iridium 6.2 or DA D600s?
So the more I read about the DLS Iridium 6.2 component sets, the more I like them. Multiple sources online describe them as being much warmer than the diamond comps. The thing is, the DA D600s is $175 shipped from ebay, and the DLS Iridium 6.2 is $557 shipped
I'm trying to talk myself out of paying $557 for some component sets, but I also know that spending more $ for a better product yields better results.
Unfortunately from what I can find, no one in my area is a retailer for Diamond or DLS.... so I'm slightly screwed in that respect.
Any thoughts from anyone?

First off, I'm a DLS dealer, so I may be biased.
The tweeter in the DLS is much better than the Diamond. It has a tuned chamber behind it like the expensive Morel and Scan Speak tweeters, which allows it to play lower while retaining VERY high power handling, which elevates the vocals in your car in most installations. The Diamond tweeter has a resonance of like 1750 or so, while the DLS is around 900. This translates to around an octave difference in crossover point.
The three-inch voice coil on the woofer allows very accurate midbass, while the neo magnet allows the spekeaker to fit in places a regular alloy magnet is too big to fit.
But... have you looked at the tweeter on their web site? The chamber is deep and for that reason it doesn't fit in many OEM tweeter locations, such as most mirror sails.
Our big hit speaker is the DLS UP6. It uses a two-inch VC on the mid, and it doesn't have a tuned tweeter back chamber, so the power handling is a bit lower (if you don't use a BIG amp, it's not an issue - we've EVER lost any DLS component). But the tweeters play almost as low and they fit anywhere, the 6" still uses the neo magnet so it still fits anywhere. It also costs less than the Iridium.
If you decide to go Iridium, ping me - you still have my email, right?

I have the Diamond S600a Hex up front and the aluminum tweeters are "piercing" at times with the gain turned up. However, I really think it's perfect for enhanced clarity under noisy conditions (i.e. being in a car, driving on the highway). I've been told the silk are a little warmer.
Never heard the DLS. The price point you're getting on the Diamond is amazing though - I couldn't find anything near that!

I really like warm, not harsh. I like the sound that you get with a boom box at home, for example. I like the highs to be present, but I like hearing the entire think as one big package, not really being able to pick out the tweeters from the woofers from the sub
I don't want to spend $500 on a component set, but if it'll give me the sound I want, I'll do it. I don't mind spending money if it does what I want.
Unfortunately, the only thing people sell around here seems to be the normal stuff you can find at Best Buy, CC, etc, or the harsh stuff they sell at Tweeter (Focals, they REALLY push focals, Boston, etc).
Wish I could hear some of these warmer brands
