In my opinion the AVIC-D1 is the way to go. THe install looks very clean and classy while the flip up screen looks cheap and belongs in a civic in my opinion.

The D1 does not play DVDs so if you are interested in that you will need to add a PS2/XBOX/External DVD player to view DVDs.

Sorry, man - after using them in customer's cars, I gotta go with the Eclipse 5435.

But the flip-up screen on the N2 is not my fave. OF those two, I'd go D1.

Dude,

Why do you find the Eclipse a better unit than the Pioneer?

I have the Pioneer Avic-N1 since they first came out nad i have also been looking at the Eclipse AVN-5495.

Here are some pros and cons

Pros:

30G HDD
HDD based navigation system
Rip all your cd's to MP3 into the 30g HDD
5V RCA Preouts
9 Band EQ
Surround Sound
Listening Position Selector
Plays all types of DVD media

Cons:

No Speedometer or Gforce layout like the one found in my Avic-N1
I believe it has less POI's than pioneers unit

I get tired of having my music videos playing and by accident passing a exit i'm suppose to get off on
and having to put the navigational disc back in so it can get me the alternate route or put me back on track.
That is my one main headache as far as pioneer navigation systems.
Also if you look at the pioneer specs for their RCA output you would see it is less than 1V another big gripe if you are a audiophile like me.
I guess you wouldn't have that problem with the D1 unit but then again you dont have dvd capability.
