Comes in handy with a stealth install where you don't have access to the unit.
Don't worry sbout the V1 in VA/DC, it is the least detectable by a RDD (Radar Detector Detector).

Just tap into the cig lighter right there. Some people are a little hesitant to tap into ignition wires.

Did you run the wire down the A pillar? How did you get it under the dash, is there a way to run it cleanly? Sorry for the questions, I haven't even tried to do my clean V1 install yet...

Take the A-pillar off and run the wires to the corner of the windshield or if you want, run it all the way to the middle. To get to the center console from the passenger side, I ran the wires behind the glove box but had to take apart the ashtray trim piece to have access to the rest of the install. Use zipties to secure the wires unless you want vibrations. Especially around the A-pillar.

good point. that's a very viable solution. i'd go with that if there is nothing else tapped into the ignition wire. it sounds a lot easier.

what he said, but i did it on the driver's side. i found it easier (especially since i've taken it apart once or twice before and knew how).

Maybe this will help those needing to tap the ignition wire, but aren't sure how. Pretend the pink wire in the pic is the igntion wire and the other 2 are anything your needing to get power to. Also make sure any power connection you add is properly fused. Hope this helps *Last 2 pics are backwards*

Nice suggestion. If you only need to power 1 thing though, it's easier to use a wire tap and add an inline fuse.

Thats true, but you have to consider who is doing this and what experience they have. If someone were to use an 20-22ga wire tap on an ignition wire, then its very possible the wire will be cut in half. And also if they're not correctly used, can eventually fail.
