JL 300/4 Installed
JL 300/4 Installed
After 3 days of hard work and partying, I managed to rewire the front component speakers and installed the JL 300/4 amp in the Blose location. I used Knukoncept Complete 8 Gauge 4 Channel Amplifier kit and extra Knukoncept 12 gauage wire to manage all the wiring job.
I ran the power wire from the battery through the rubber grommet behind the battery. And ran the 8 gauge wire on the passenger side to the trunk. It took me awhile to figure out how to take the back seat off.
Running the speaker wire to the left door was hard. the hardest part was getting the wire through the fuse box. I ended up taking the whole fuse box off in order the fish the wire through. I used the rubber grommet below the stock molex plug to get the wires to the door. Before i want to relocate the crossover from the door to the trunk but it was hard enough to run one wire to the door so I gave up that idea. The right side was much easier ran the speaker wire from the right door > under the center dash > to the left side of the car and into the trunk.
the amp install was not as hard as i thought. I bought some 3/4" MDF board from homedepot and cut it to the size of the amp and drill the holes for screw to go through. I have to cut 2 long strips of MDF to raise the amp in order to fit the amp into that space. I used the stock bolt to bolt down the MDF board.
Connecting the RCA was not hard at all, first i tried with some crappy RCAs cut it up and use crimpers to connect to the JL amp but the connection was weak, so I ended up cutting the KnuKoncept RCA wires and connect to the amp, the signal was strong and clear without any LOC; I just set the amp to low signal input and may be halfway up on the gain.
Im happy with the results it was a good DIY consider that it was my first amp installation. But I found my MB quart PCE 216 is a bit too bright when listening to certain kind of music. And Im still waiting for the 4080 box and JL 10w1v2 to come in.

Definitely ear hurting brightness. I still perfer Boston Acoustic over anything else. Great write up for others to possibly follow. Am I the only one around that uses fish tape to snake wires in and around things?
Man im still waiting for my 10w1v2 from www.indoaudio.com its been a while. thinking to cancel the order and go for something else such as elemental designs 11kv.2 . what do you guys think?
I think that you might want to take the quart tweeter and spray some of the clear spray on it that you can get from an art store to preserve pencil drawings.
And indoaudio is very spotty on their service, especially with products like JL that aren't suppsoed to be sold through them.

So you totally got rid of the Bose amp? Are you just running 2 channels to the front & 2 channels for the sub?

etang, what wires on the stock wiring harness did you connect the bare ends of that RCA wire to? i'm assuming you tapped directly into the balanced output from the stock headunit?
