Circuit breaker or fuse?

The system I had in my last car, the installer used a 100amp Phoenix Gold circuit breaker instead of a fuse. Is anyone else using a circuit breaker in their G's?

I'm using one of those standard inline fuses right at my battery. Don't know why you would want a "circuit breaker" persay.

It's a protection device just like a fuse, except it doesn't need replacement.

100amp fuse burns out when too much current is drawn
- replace fuse

100amp circuit breaker trips when too much current is drawn
- reset circuit

I would stick with fuses. Breakers tend not to trip quick enough when it comes to sensitive electronic equipment.

Breakers also don't like underhood condsitions and most of them are too large a footprint to mount easily.

circuit breaker

i have the rockford fosgate circuit breaker in my car. it is small enough to mount right by the battery, so that it is isolated away from the engine, under the battery cover. ill never have to buy another fuse.

I'm a strong believer in fuses. I just have faith that when the time comes and u have a short they will pop quickly and with minimal damage. Put it this way, I have never popped a fuse in over 8 years and 3 setups. While breakers may seem nice, how often are you going to reset them. If u blow a fuse something is seriously wrong and u should re-check your install.

I have a breaker by the battery and a fuse based distrubution block in the trunk. One nice thing about the breaker is the abiity to just pop the circuit when you need to do maint on the system, or bring it in for service, etc.

Yea, then say goodbye to all your equipment during the first 2 seconds.

How do you determine necessary fuse size? Based off what fuses the amps use?
