Fingerprint Locks and Ignition

Fingerprint Locks and Ignition
I'm just curious if anyone has done a fingerprint lock and/or ignition setup. I have been looking into a module from india (seemingly where most fingerprint modules are made) and I'm just surprised that I haven't seen any being marketed. Are there any currently available?
It looks like it would be fairly simple to install the module into the car and an ignition setup if desirable would likewise be fairly simple. The cost of the module is $150.00. It would take two (of course) if you want one on the driver's side door and one for the ignition. The biggest problem is that you have to get the software/programming instructions as the module is not actually designed for this particular purpose, but looking at the schematic of the thing, it's really quite simple with a basic negative/or positive trigger for the door locks.
BUT, before I go re-inventing the wheel, i'm just wondering if something like this is already in existence as it seems so simple and reasonably cheap i think (less the software)....
Thanks,
Greg

Well for it to be used for the ignition, you would have to use a bypass module (using your second key) because the G has an immobilizer. The fingerprint module is basically an immobilizer. So basically you would be bypassing the factory immobilzer to put in an aftermarket immobilzer. To have biometric security in your car is nice, but in this case, it would be a waste of money, IMO.

We'll leave the high-tech crazy stuff to the German cars...after they come out with them 1st, have reliability go down the drain, and the Japanese engineers have a chance to perfect it, it should be ok.
And to be quite honest, needing fingerprints to open the door is probably a horrible idea. It takes more time than clicking a button, will cost more, easier to malfunction, has to take in account variances such as dirt/rain/snow, might need to take off gloves during winter while freezing, not to mention you no longer will get carjacked and just get left behind...you'll get left behind...but missing your fingers.

Hmm.....I must say I do like my thumbs. It's not really a security thing for me as more of a convenience. The particular module i'm looking at has impressive accuracy and has/is being used on a great number of home locks and gun safe type locks.
Geeze, i do get such good use out of my thumbs though....and the trunk would be a bit cramped!
Thanks guys, i take it that is a no as far as if anyone has every seen one utilized on an automobile.
