Cd Fo Error

Oh man.... This is the second time my CD has screwed up. Yesterday, the damn thing started displaying CD FO ERROR and does not work. I had the POS replaced under warranty some time ago, now I'm out of warranty. It looks like Clarion does not actually fix the CD player, they just replaced it with another POS that will eventually break. I'm so pissed off... What am I to do now? Replace it with anpother POS or upgrade to a real stereo?

honestly I'd say go with double din. I'm keeping my stock HU as long as it works and I'm under warranty. The minute it's out of warranty and it dies and I cannot complain loud enough to get it replaced for free, I'm going double din conversion. Replacing the HU with another OEM HU is just living on portential borrowed time. Not only are you getting a replacement that is not "fixed", often they send you a refurbished unit on top of it all!

I really like the factory stock look of the OEM unit, but there is no way I'm spending MY money on a replacement one.

Just talked with the dumb a** service advisor at Infiniti.....He said he normally tells his clients to go to Tweeter and have an aftermarket unit installed..... Can just any unit be placed int the G35? Don't I have to go double din route? Isn't the A/C controller part of that POS head unit?
What am I to do????

Read the Double Din sticky at the top of the forums. You have to do a double din conversion in order to get a single din (normal radio size) or double din (what you see in lots of jeeps & chryslers) to fit. The double din conversion kit does come with a slimmer AC control board. Lots of people have done it. It's a bit pricey and a bit involved, but armed with the instructions that can be found on these boards, and the appropriate parts, a good shop (ie: NOT tweetDURRRRR, circuit****ty, or Best Try) can do the install no problem-o.

Yeah, it looks like I will need to do some investigating. Do I need to buy the double din myslef and take it to an installer, or can they do it for me?

What year is your car? If it is 03-04, maybe they never produced any without a sure bug fix and there are some bad apples still in those batches produced.

I have the "original G35" 2003 Sedan.
I looked at Grubbs Infiniti and see they sell a "Double Din Finisher" for $67.99 and a "Double Din Bracket without Navigation" for $40.95. Is it as simple as getting these two parts and then buying any aftermarket CD player?

So all I need are these 3 parts totaling $273.94 plus shipping for me to get another CD player installed in my sedan? Any recommendations on a replacement CD player? help me.........please?

I don't know about the Grubbs' parts, I got mine from Yoshi.

If you really want to go with a Double Din setup, I suggest your read the entire stickied Double Din thread. It's at the top of this forum. That thread also points to a complete DIY article that is very good.

As far as what player/head unit you want, there are many... if you have Nav, you don't need to duplicate the Nav feature... maybe a Kenwood would work. If you don't have Nav, a unit with Nav like the Eclipse AVN5435 might be what you want.

You've got over 60k miles on your G already???

I got that error 2 days ago. I can't get mine fixed until after I drive cross-country, ship my car to Hawaii, and wait about 3 weeks for it to get there. So basically sometime in February.

Usually when they replace a part the part itself is warrantied for 12m/12k regardless of the rest of the car.

Cool This Bose Blows

Yeah this is the second time for me also. You would of thought that they would of fixed the problem instead of just putting the same changer in with the same problem. Makes no sense at all. There must be a way to get the stuck CD out of there with out paying an arm and a leg. Really GREAT car but they should've had a better audio system in place. The Bose is not up to Infiniti standards at all.
