2006 Satellite Radio - XM and Sirius antennae compatible?

I have a 2006 with factory XM that I'd like to convert to Sirius. All of the tuner kit / antenna kit / feeder cover part numbers changed in 2006 (the tuner modules are over $100 cheaper now).

Given that I already have the XM antenna mounted and wired from the factory, I'd like to re-use that installation and just swap in the Sirius module. Both XM and Sirius operate in the S-band (XM at 2332.50 - 2345.00 MHz, Sirius at 2320.00 - 2332.50 MHz), so their antennae should be compatible from a radiofrequency standpoint.

However my question is whether or not the physical connection at the tuner is the same for the XM and the Sirius modules. Has anybody seen the end of a Sirius and XM antenna first hand to verify that they're the same?

Thanks much.

Nobody's seen Sirius and XM antennae side by side, or modules side by side?

antenna's are all the same. it's where they connect to that are different. so, you could use an xm antenna on a sirius tuner and vice versa.

Thanks for the input. What do you mean by "it's where they connect to that are different"? So basically you're saying I could plug my XM antenna in to a Sirius module with no modifcations what-so-ever?

here's a picture of an XM antenna, also from crutchfield:

yes, they're from the same company, but it shouldn't really matter. hope that helps clear things up.

NO! its not the same. XM and Sirius are on totally different frequencies, you need a special antenna for each. Why do you think they sell different ones? This has been talked about before. People switching from XM to Sirius have had to switch out roof antennas which is not fun.

They are certainly at slightly different frequencies, but in a similar matter as that of your normal FM or AM stations. From what I understand, the antennae should have a wide enough range to handle either and the rest is up to the receiver module. I could be wrong, but I'll definitely give the XM antenna a try in the Sirius receiver before I rip it up and install the Sirius antenna.
