i have an 06 coupe,
and just above the radio theres a round button next to RADIO and CD its says " PTY CAT " when i push it it doesnt do anything does anyone know what its for??? also the DISPLAY botton doesnt do anything either?

 

You can search this, im sure its been explain in the past. to my understanding i believe the PTY CAT is for the Sat radio? the display button works, you have to hold it, pressing it and releasing it quickly doesn't do anything

 

If you have an 06 you have an owners manual, I suggest you read it.

 

owners manual? wth is that O.o lol if you dont have XM or Sirus whatever infiniti uses then you can hook up an iPod or something to that if u want to. its just there for the SAT radio option

 

I believe it stands for "Program Type" and "Category"... they should have called it "PRG CATG" or something easier to understand...

I think it's so you can select the type of music you wanna search... like: rock, country, hip-hop, etc.... and when you do a search for radio stations, it only selects those types of music... then again... I never use it.

Also works with FM, as long as the station is broadcasting with RDS. Probably the most useless feature I've seen, except for XM. With so many XM (or sirius) stations, it's nice to press the button to go through Country, Rock, Urban, Talk, Decades, etc.

It activates the Trunk Monkey

 

its a decent feature for long trips - it picks up stations that broadcast their catagory's - you hit it till you get the type of music you like, and select tune, it search's for the station...reason i say long trips is cause after 5 hours here you start picking up wierd stations

I'm a newbie at this board and all, but couldn't you have answered his question in the same amount of time and energy that it took to reply with this?

It's a valid question, and PTY and CAT aren't valid search criteria on this board because they have three characters.

I thought it awoke the Party Cat myself.
