Where are you guys grounding you trunk amps?

IS there a bolt someplace already, or are you drilling a fresh hole, with a nice metal contact. My current grnd point sucks.

Thanks!

This is a noob question I know, but how do you figure out where to drill (so you dont cut into anything important?) Do you drill through the floor, so you use a nut and bolt from the outside? Thanks.

did that provide a good ground by itself? (what size bolt is that?) or did you have to scrape off the paint and drill into the metal of the spare tire bracket itself?

I used the bolt that the stock amp bracket uses. I sanded all around it, works like a champ.

Great info guys thanks, I'm planning on mounting the amps to the back of the rear seat, so I'll tap one of those holes around there by the frame, w/ a little sanding to get metal then once all the contact are done I'll protect it w/ something, maybe silicone sealant. I'm currently tapping a stock screw thats holding a solinoid thingy by the rear of the frame and it's not a solid ground.

There is a slight problem with mounting an amp to the back seat......the backing of the seat is pretty much like cardboard. You may want to use a wood or vinyl backing under the carpeting for extra support.

I used one of the bolts that holds down one of the latch U brackets in the interior cabin.

i used one of the existing studs welded to the trunk floor (see the 2 black wires near the date in the 2nd pic).....took some sand paper and sanded the paint off first.

as far as mounting the amps on the rear seat.....no big deal, just slide a couple of wood slats behind the carpet to give the mounting screws something to bite into....

Hey Shooter, you're my favorite person right now. I"m about to mount my amp this weekend. How did you secure the wood to the back of the seat? Did you just slide the wood behind the two bars? Thanks.
