Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

Im a lil confused, this NAV/TV Tuner system will allow us to play DVD movies on our stock DVD NAV player? Or will this NAV/TV Tuner system only allow us to connect an external DVD player, so we can play DVD movies on our screen?

It just allowes you to use the Nav screen to play movies from any external RCA/S-Video source (I'm not 100% sure of the specific inputs it has). So yes, you need another DVD player to plug into it.

Ok I see what your'e saying..

Correct - the current NAV UNIT in our glove box cannot run regular DVD Movies...The converter box will let you split the wire from the NAV unit in the glove box to an extrnal DVD player, Game Consul, and LAPTOP! It even offers a backup cam. I figured $395 was a little much...But at retail prices, GO FIGURE...Not an expert in this area.

"ROFL.. that's a good one. Technical knowledge from a Fry's employee, much less Best Buy or Circuit City."

BWAHAHAha never listen to those guys. They know jack crack. Very true, a Fry's technical sales rep dude is an over rated Circuit City retail associate. I was just helping someone buy a hub to connect cable to 2 computers. They said it wouldn't work and muttered a bunch of techy babble that I think they memorized.

about stock navi playing movies. yah isn't there some decoder we can load and it'll install itself? There's decoders just like that for PS2, so I don't see why no one hasn't thought of it for our navi. Anyone seen the japanese version of our navi? I heard it plays DVD movies.

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

yeah, I'm waiting out for something like that. Its BS and way too much work to have to install the AVelectronics thing and also then supply your own dvd system. After everything, you're in like a grand and still have to go to the trunk or something to change a DVD. I'd rather just have my laptop in the car and watch a movie on a 15 inch screen.

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

It's still fun to have in the car.
I didn't pay for the box...was a bday gift!
If you haven't seen a movie playing on the nav screen, experience it first hand! I'll be more than happy to show you...We'll go for a ride..u can drive while a movie is playing and then let me know how your experience was..good or bad!

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

I'd like to set up a rear facing camera and view the output on the stock screen to get better backup/parking visiblity. Has anyone tried this?

Awesome....

How clear is the picture on the NAV screen? Is the resolution sufficient? Hard to tell on your pics, but looks pretty good!

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

couple of FNG questions here.

I am willing to pay 400 + for the ability to have PS2 and DVD's on my Navi screen. But how does the volume work for the games and movies? Also where is the best place to install the PS2 to keep it stable and therefore not bumping the movie/game... especially if I am going to have an amp and speakers in the trunk area. help here would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

The sound is good. My PS2 is mounted in a box I made under the glove box.

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

Can't you just use the PS2 or Xbox are your dvd player? I know both have optical output that can send thru a digital processor that will allow you set up 5.1.

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

Yes it works as both. I chose the PS2 so I have the option of watching movies or playing a game with one system and pretty much the same price.
