Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

What needs to be done to make this work. Does an aftermarket DVD player need to be purchased? How does it wire in to the factory screen? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

try a search but it can be done with an after market DVD player. You cant do it with the stock one at this point. The search botton is at the top in the middle of the black bar good luck

as of right now, I dont think anyone knows. It may work if you some kind of decoder. Check out frys electronics, bestbuy or circuit city for details. They should be able to help.

ROFL.. that's a good one. Technical knowledge from a Fry's employee, much less Best Buy or Circuit City.

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

haha.... guys. there will never, ever be a way to play dvd movies in this NAV DVD rom drive. The amount of time and money it would take to reverse engineer that box and add an interface for playing movies would be tremendous! It would be cheaper and more efficient to buy a portable player.

I think we have it all figured out now and it involves the GB on the Tuner.

narkotic: Unless it's already designed to do that, and the feature is just disabled due to US laws.

BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

I've modified my NAV unit to play DVD and play PS2 Games!
YES IT"S TRUE!

Go to www.avelectronic.com -

The DVD/TV Tuner will cost your $495.00 + Shipping
The shop I took it to spent a good 5 hours installing the unit at $60.00 per hour plus an ac/dc power converter for $70.00.
The PS2 ran me about $180+ Tax but it's well worth it!

All-in-all I spent an extra $1,000.00 for the hardware and labor but it's SOOOOOO F'n Worth it!

PM me for more pics!

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

Yeah they would, Really it cost you a G extra to get it in. I thought it would be relativly easy with only one wire to splice.. is the dash assembly that confusing?

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

I don't think your understanding GYAl8R. They want to play movies using the Stock Navi DVD player, not the Navi Screen. Using the AV electronic rip off device, you are able to patch in video to the stock navi screen, meaning you have to buy/install the PS2 or dvd player.

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

Wait did I miss something? how is it a rip off device? I think for $400 (give or take) to have an adapter that allows you to play movies, games, TV, and add cameras or any other device that you see fit with an AV output is a sweet deal. It would be nice to play movies from the stock nav unit but this has it's benefits as well.

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

Considering I come from a background of electronics, this device is worth a good $150..

Re: Making the Stock NAV play DVD Movies.

Oh I see what your saying, I really have only a little experiance with that stuff so for someone like me it seems like a fair price. Now if someone could post a DIY for the install and thats not too hard I'd be pretty pumped. Someone mentioned A G to get in put in and that is a little high.
