Changing all 8 Speakers in my Coupe... No subs, 6 channel amp or 4 channel?

So I have the AVIC-D1 in my car with the stock bose amp and 8 speakers that came with the premium package which is I can't bear any more...

Now I am looking into replacing all 8 speakers with MB Quartz. Because that's what I used in a previous ride and they sound GREAT.

Since I won't be getting any subs, can I just get a 4 channel amp or will I need a 6 channel amp?

Anyone used the JL AUDIO 6-channel amp before?

Hm. That's MB Quart, not Quartz.

You could use a 2-channel amp. You need to decide why you're getting that many speakers. Because "that's how many holes my car has" isn't a grownup answer.

So what do you want?

Are you keeping the factory head unit? If not, is the new unit powered?

That was a typo man...

I am wanting at least a four channel amp to have the four corners meaning front, rear, left and right. My question whether I should go with a 4-channel meant that I know I can use 2 of the 4 channels to power the four speakers up front since it will be connected via crossovers BUT can all four rear speakers be connected to the remaining two channels or would it be better to have one channel per speaker?

I'm not trying to "do it cheap" but I am also not building a show car.

I thought we 2 of 8 speakers were supposedly subs? I am reading different things... I was told that the rear side 6.5's were subs. I know that the 6x9's definitely put out more bass than the puny 6.5's.

Actually they have been promised to a buddy of mine.

He was so pissed that I sold my bose indash changer to you... he wanted that so bad for his CL... he was going to cut his whole dash up just to fit it in.

yea i'm sorta in the same boat. I'm thinking of gettin a ddx8017 and replacing the speakers/bose amp as well. Friend of mine told me to get a good 4 channel amp and link the rear speakers together (ie mid left and rear left, and mid right/rear right). And then get a seperate amp/sub to handle bass.

or

get 2 4-channel amps and have 1 channel for each speaker and bridge (?) 2 channels for a sub.

I'm debating between DA's and MB Q's reference speakers (i can't find a dls dealer near me )

What is your abbreviation of "DA" short for? I hope it's DynAudio and not Diamond

I would avoid the MB unless you are looking for the classic "bright" sound (like Focal).

Diamond Audio... This place called Audio Connections near me has MB Quarts...

yea...no DynAudio retailers in MD...

I listened to the Quarts and thought they sounded better then the Kappa's (which i've heard in my friends G), never listened to Focals though.

what i would do is get a 2 channel amp dedicated to just the front components, and than a 4 channel amp for the rear speakers.. make sure you get a good set of front components..

I am using 2 channels for the front components...

6.5 MB with tweets and crossovers

2 channels to power all four rears... 6.5 MB "add-a-woofer" and 3-way 6x9 MB as well.

The amp I am using will be the old AG-360 Zappco that I originally sold to my friend. He offered to sell me back the 2-JL 10's in the box and Zappco AG 2 channel amp but I don't want super loud *** bass. I just want it to sound clean and the 6.5 woofer + 6x9 bass will be good enough for me. Although the whole set-up I originally sold him sounded so sweet!
