Radar Detector/Jammer

I want to put a radar detector/jammer with the front and rear sensors in my G, but they seem to be fairly expensive.

Does anyone have one? Does it work well?

Anyone know where to get a deal on one and are they hard to install?

radar jammer or laser jammer?

radar jammers don't work unless you get your hands on a highly illegal (jail time if caught) version,

laser jammers work quite well.

and of course, radar detectors work. Most popular two are Valentine V1 and Escort 8500. We are not going to discuss, compare radar detectors in this thread, however, as it's been discussed to gorey detail in many many other threads.

Escort 8500 x50 for radar detection
Escort Passport ZR3 for laser shifting (jamming). Check it out.

I found some for $1500, the box sits under your seat and the two jammers mount in/under your front bumper. It's another $500-1000 for the rear jammers (transmitters). Window mount radar jammers arent worth their weight in dog sh*t.

As for avoiding jail time, one loophole I am looking into is getting a HAM (short wave) radio operators license, it allows you to legally broadcast on a certain range of frequencies. That's why jammers are illegal, you are broadcasting on a closed frequency... its an FCC thing.

Hey now, I never said it was legal in any state. I just said I was looking into how successful that would be as a loophole.

Dont forget, basic radar detectors are illegal in a few **** states.

Laser and radar are 2 totally different animals right? Radar falls under the control of the FCC and laser under the FDA since it is considered a light?

IIRC laser jammers are not legal in the The People's Republic of Kalifornia and a few other states. I think if you go to Escort's ZR3 website and search for vendors by state you can figure out which states ban them.

I'm very happy with my Escort 8500 X50/ZR3 combo.
