problems with Parrot install...

Everyone I'm posting this link here as I was on another forum and didn't realize there was this one specific to electronics. If anyone can lend a hand I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm at my wits end

It appears you only need (3) power wires. One constant +12V, one ignition switched +12V, and one ground. You can find all these at the ignition harness, behind the head unit, or at the fuse box. I don't know what they're referring to with the "switch fuse holders" thing. That would work if you got the constant and switched ignition wires mixed up. Rather than cutting and resoldering, you could just swap the lower halves of the fuse holders. If your Parrot is holding its memory after you turn off the ignition, you have it hooked up correctly. It should only turn on when the key is turned to acc I, acc II, or start. Current draw to retain memory should be negligible.

Thanks but this is what ive done!!. I tied 12v constant to one that i found at the fuse box, the switched 12v I tied to one i found under the center console and i tied ground to ground of the same wiring harness under the center console. The parrot works as explained but the battery ends up dying. I did a similar install for my ipod and its worked perfectly for a year! (only diff is that it doesnt need 2 x 12volts sources). Can a short be causing this? I mean, there aint much to it...

Thanks again,
Neal.

Parrot problem seems solved... keeping fingers crossed

I decided to run a wire directly to the battery and thru the main grommet that enters the car under the dash on the passenger side. So far the battery is holding just fine all day. Hopefully it will stay ok

Thanks for everyones help on this and special thanks to MBentley who pointed me in the right direction regarding the grommet placement and the audio and electronics forum.

Its great having the support out there!

Regards,
Neal.
